Dual fuel capability

Lava can use a variety of fuels such as canister gas, gasoline, kerosene, etc., allowing us to choose different fuels according to their needs, making it more flexible and convenient.

Powerful output

Boiling water in just 3min15s is an impressive feat, and this stove can do it thanks to its powerful output of up to 10,239 BTUs. This makes it a great option for those who need to prepare food quickly, especially if you're on a tight schedule or in extreme weather conditions.

Allows simmer

While high heat output is important for boiling water quickly, being able to simmer food is also crucial for outdoor cooking. This stove's ability to simmer is a great feature that allows you to cook more delicate foods without burning them.

Easy to maintain

The included repair kit is a great feature that makes this stove easy to maintain and repair. This is particularly important for those who spend a lot of time in the outdoors, as even the best equipment can suffer wear and tear over time. Being able to repair your stove in the field can save you time and money, and help you get back to cooking your favorite meals as quickly as possible.

A little finicky to get started but it works

The little fuel filter stone fell out of the feed tube when i was removing it from the plastic so i had to kind of melt the end of the tube and stick it back in there. I'll look at replacing that when i get back from traveling. It did clog on me initially (remember to change the fuel nozzle) but it was easily fixed with the included tool. I filled the tank half full with the gas I had, pumped it about 40 times, opened the tank valve, then burner valve for about 5 secs (I could see some liquid fuel in the burner). Closed all valves, then lit the burner. It took about 40-50 seconds for it to burn down (the goal is to heat the burner so it will vaporize the fuel). Then I opened the tank valve to full, the I open burner valve just a bit to light again. Took about 20 seconds of sputtering along until I began to get a blue flame, then it ran reliably. I repeated this procedure a half a dozen times throughout the day. It boiled and simmered just fine.
I intend to take this stove on my long bike tour, and the goal was to pack only one fuel tank I could refill at a gas station and not have to worry about finding a canister. So I think it's going to work well. I remove on start because the instructions were lacking. The only hassle I see so far is that you have to wait a while for the burner to cool before you pack it up..but that's inherent in the design. It seems to be heavy duty, we shall see how it performs on the road.

Lava stove

Despite what people on YouTube have to say, this seems like a quality stove. I prefer liquid fuel stoves to canister since they're cheaper to operate and maintain but I like that this one has the option to run a canister if I don't feel like messing with white gas. It's got some heft to it but in a good way, it feels well built. My only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is for the price I think it should have a self cleaner jet or such like MSR's "shaker jet", but obviously not a deal breaker. Boils water quickly and overall I'm quite pleased with it.

Hi there! Thank you for taking the time to leave a review for our Lava Multi-Fuel Backpacking Stove. We're so happy to hear that you find it to be a quality stove and appreciate its versatility with both liquid fuel and canister options. We understand your concern about the price and will definitely take your feedback into consideration for future improvements. We're glad to know that it has been performing well for you and we hope you continue to enjoy using it on your future backpacking adventures! Happy trails!
