What is the difference between G2 and G3？

The G2(750ml,184.5g/6.5oz) has a larger capacity and wider diameter than the G3(600ml,161.6g/5.7oz), allowing it to fit a standard 230g flat gas canister.
Choose the G2 for versatility and higher volume, or the G3 for portability and reduced weight.

Can I fit a 230g (8oz) fuel canister inside the G2 pot?

Yes! This is the main upgrade over the smaller Petrel 600ml. The G2 750ml pot is wide enough to nest a standard 230g isobutane canister (upside down) with the lid closed.

Is the 750ml capacity the "max" or the "usable" volume?

750ml is the functional capacity for boiling water safely. The absolute brim-full capacity is closer to 1 Liter, but we recommend sticking to 500-750ml to prevent boil-over, especially since the heat exchanger causes water to boil very aggressively.

How much faster is the Heat Exchanger (HX) pot compared to a titanium pot?

The built-in heat exchanger fins increase surface area and block wind, improving thermal efficiency by roughly 30%. While a titanium pot might be lighter initially, the Petrel G2 saves you weight on fuel over long trips because it boils faster and consumes significantly less gas.

What is the spout for?

The G2 features a dedicated pour spout (unlike the older G3), making it perfect for precision pouring into freeze-dried meal bags or making drip coffee without spilling boiling water on your gear.

Superlight, extremely well made, and beautiful design. Plus, it works exceptionally well... a must buy!

You know in all seriousness, and after 41 years of experience as a Search and Rescue Ranger, I think I've seen or used everything under the sun and far as backpacking stoves are concerned. And without trying to sound dramatic, this pot in combination with a Soto Windmaster stove and the three prong pot support, may very well be the best Kit for all but Mountaineering when very large amounts of snow must be melted. For I would say 95/98 percent of the rest of us. This pot with the neoprene sleeve is absolutely spot on. Lite, large enough without over doing it, great lid, a pour spout that actually works, no drips, and the best feature I think is the heat exchanger, I was somewhat skeptical of those at first, gimmick I wondered, but nope it's a real thing the actually increases the performance noticeably. All in all, if you asked me, I would say absolutely purchase this.

The Price to Quality Ratio is off the Charts!

I must admit, the quality surprised me, and in a good way. Got this because it was on sale along with the Greenpeak II and my son took my jet boil. I just wanted something to make coffee on a hike for me and my wife. It actually is lighter then the jetboil and heated up water so quickly, and then you can simmer as well. So easy to use and the quality has been great. For the price this is really a no brainer. Also fits with my decades old OG MSR pocket rocket. I like the handle as well, secures the lid well and easy to pour with worry about burns and steam.

Light weight, boils fast, holds a medium gas container. Unfortunately no measuring marks which are generally needed for freeze dried meals.
