Q1: Does the handle lock up or is it loose?
A: The handle is very cleverly designed that you can confidently leave it in the upward position if you wish as it has a lip that the handle can rotate into. This lip has been specifically made to accommodate a upward position. Otherwise you can rotate to where you like.
Q2: The stainless steel description is double. Please answer accurately whether it is 304 or 18-8.
A: SUS304 is equal to 18-8 stainless steel. So it's 304 and yes, it's also 18-8.
Q3: Does this kettle whistle when boiling?
A: No, there is no small whistling piece in the pour spout.
Q4: Do you know if this kettle is compatible with an induction cooktop?
A: If you don't mind that the kettle's bottom isn't fully flat, you may use it on an induction burner.

This is a nice nesting set of SS cookware. Does everything it’s supposed to do and well. No issues at all with either piece. If seasoned properly, the pot lid can be inverted and used as a double boiler setup; melting butter/chocolate, warming left overs, or poaching eggs.
The pot came dented in one area from rough shipping damage; not a huge deal breaker.
However, FireMaple… I appreciate the free shipping, but… don’t send your gear out the cheapest way possible; a flimsy plastic bag without any type of wrapping paper or bubble wrap around the product box. You’re just asking for trouble. You can’t expect your gear to make it from California to North Carolina (2600 mi.) without being mistreated by whatever shipping company has the package. Do better.

Good gear. I was disappointed the handle on the kettle doesn’t stay up unless I repeatedly fidget with the Engineered out of alignment metal tabs. Nice pour and it can handle enough quantity for two people.
