Will the detachable spout leak or loosen when pouring boiling water?

No. The spout uses a precision-threaded connection sealed with food-safe, high-temperature-resistant silicone O-rings. Once threaded into place, it creates a watertight seal rated for repeated use at full boiling temperatures. The silicone compound is food-contact certified, so nothing between the water and your cup compromises your brew.

Can I store a 100g fuel canister inside?

Due to the ultra-compact 350ml design focused on saving space, a 100g canister will not fit inside when the handle and spout are nested.
However, the interior is perfectly sized to store an ultralight stove, a lighter, or your favorite coffee beans.

Is 350ml enough capacity for backcountry use?

Yes! 350ml (11.8 oz) is the sweet spot for a standard single-serve pour-over coffee, Aeropress, or hydrating a single pouch of freeze-dried food, without carrying an ounce of unnecessary weight or bulk.

What stoves fit the Petrel kettle?

It only fits 3-prong stoves with 120-degree spacing (like our GreenPeak or Hornet II). It is not compatible with 4-prong stoves.

Can I use it on a home stove or induction cooktop?

No. The aluminum alloy is incompatible with induction, and the high heat from home gas burners will permanently damage the delicate heat exchanger base.

Does it come with a storage bag for the detached parts?

Yes, the Petrel includes a dual mesh bag system. You receive one protective mesh sack for the main kettle body, and a smaller dedicated pouch for the detached spout and handle. This smaller pouch nests perfectly inside the kettle, preventing annoying metal-on-metal rattling and protecting the interior from scratches while on the trail.

What is the pour flow rate?

The gooseneck spout is calibrated to a maximum output of 9g/s. This sits in the controlled range preferred for pour-over extraction—slow enough to saturate grounds evenly during the bloom phase, fast enough to complete a full 350ml brew without stalling the drawdown.
