A Must-Have Addition to the Gear of a Warrior Poet

I took this magnificent little lantern on a three day expedition down the Buffalo River in Arkansas recently. While on the river on my massive touring paddle board, it stayed with the rest of my gear in a big dry bag backpack.

One might think that such a seemingly trivial creature comfort is a bit much to carry with you on that sort of adventure, but I say it was one of the best pieces of gear I brought. It lit my camping table as I packed bowls for my friends and I during the cool Ozark evenings and helped me find my hand and foot placement every early morning while doing my yoga and stretch mobility routine to prepare for the day’s punishing trial of my arthritic lower back (thanks, Marine Corps).

This lantern is lovely, sturdy, and lightweight. Its carrying case protects it from the rigorous abuse it easily endures on a trip through the wild, and it adds a little warm-lit elegant pleasantry to remind the hardened man that life is beautiful. Not to mention that it was geniusly designed to draw its fuel from the fuel canister I’d be carrying in any case.

After such a great experience, I’m back to buy more of Firemaple’s gear, and would gladly help them in their marketing efforts (if there’s an agreeable sponsorship of my future journeys). Alas, we took very few pictures on this trip, but here’s one my friend Aaron took from the river while fishing one evening. You’ll see my Firemaple lantern illuminating my paddleboard there.

Works as intended

Works ok. Not a ton of light. Decent for the price point.

Beautiful lighting

This is a really neat product that creates serious ambiance as well as functional light. The light itself is glass and metal and feels solid but nit heavy. The included hard plastic carrying case is a must for protection. The flame can be dialed down very low or very high ( will shoot out above the glass ). There is a cut out in the glass that allows for lighting it. The flame adjusts easily and can be used for area or task lighting. This adds a warm light and mood you will not get from LEDs ( obviously). It's some "analog' goodness and will work with standard isobutane fuel mix canisters. Works when batteries are dead as long as you have fuel. I didn't run a test to completely empty a canister to see how long it would run but I did use it for a couple hours and my canister did not feel noticeably lighter.

Just what I needed

I have used this with iso butane and small LP canisters with the adapter. Both work well. I also have not experienced problems with the flame adjustment as others have noted. The cleaning needle that ships with this is imperceptible in the canister so be careful when opening the small plastic needle holder. I like there is no mantle. The dimensions of the item and the protective case would be too large for me for hiking. However for late night family cookouts and home emergencies I think this would shine (No pun intended). For me it was a great buy.

Great, lightweight product

I was a bit nervous trying one of these. Usually, with such a simple idea, there's something that screws it up.
Amazingly, I couldn't find a thing wrong with it. It's brighter than you'd expect. Blowing the Snowpeak version out of the water with brightness. It'd make it plenty bright enough on the table to play cards or other games.
It hardly burns any fuel. I have an isobutane can that I've had for a few years and had used exclusively on my JetBoil. It has been nearly empty for a few outings. I decided I'd empty it with this lantern. Figured it'd be done in the first night of this most recent trip. But I ran it for probably three hours, and there was STILL fuel in it. Next night, two hours and still fuel.
I was running it as high as the glass, so it was going good.
This will definitely end up in my backpacking kit!
Definitely a good product and worth the money.

Great little light

This little flame gives off a really nice ambiance around camp. Won’t light a large area, but great for a bit of mood lighting. Highly recommended.

Since I spend the night outside a lot, I am absolutely thrilled with this wonderful gas bottle, it brings a fantastic atmosphere to my time outside 👍 I have also found a product with it where I can finally completely empty my gas cartridges that I have started before they are then disposed of 😉 all in all it is this beautiful lamp is a real asset. The perfect service and the perfect advice from Firemaplegear is also on top

Great little lamp!

It is what it is, a great little lamp that acts as a low light (candle+) source on camps. I also have to say that the hard shell/plastic case that it comes with is very nice and does an excellent job protecting the glass chimney.

You will need a lighter of some sort to get it going.

It’s a simple tool to have incase the lights go out or just while outside bbq.

Quality Products & Great Service

Great reviews are made up of several parts. Product and Service. Fire Maple scores on both criteria.

I'm a camper. Like most of us, I like gear. Most of it is necessary and some of it is just some fun/aesthetic/cool stuff. Fire Maple is not necessarily the gear I would pack if I was lean to camping with a couple friends, but it's absolutely the gear I'd pack if I wanted a campsite with some ambience for my GF and I,it wanted some nice gear to put in the yard.

The gear is high quality and made with an attention to detail. It works well and is easy to use. That's all you can really ask for.

Service is important. I have a ordered a bunch of things from them and never had a problem except for this last order. The box was damaged and the case of my orange lantern was cracked. YES they wanted confirmation pictures. I provided and then we went back and forth about what would be done to rectify. Once it was agreed upon the replacement went out.

They were responsive, understanding, covered their bases and were customer focused. It all took place via email, it was rapid and easy.

If you want sharp looking and functional gear, then Fire Maple is the way to go. Equally important, if you want to do Internet based business with a company that stands by and supports their products, again, Fire Maple is for you.

This is one of those interesting devices that you need.

This is one of those interesting devices that you may not want to take on a through hike where weight is a very important factor, even though it is light weight. However it is a very nice thing for weekend or a short multi day hike or car camping. It is a very relaxing light to sit by and or read a book with. It is a great way to use up your nearly empty gas canister.

Used this little gas lantern on a backcountry mountain mule deer hunt in Idaho. Worked great! Provided enough light to read and write journal entries.

I haven't had the opportunity to use it but very soon as I am certain it will be what you say it is. Fall is around the corner and it will be used in my gazebo when I have a cigar out there.
