What does dual-zone cooking mean?

The pan has two different cooking surfaces. The recessed center is useful for eggs, sauces, and small stir-fries, while the ribbed outer area is designed for meat, vegetables, and breakfast sides.

Both areas share the same heat source and cannot be controlled independently.

Can I cook different foods at the same time?

Yes. You can use the center and outer surface during the same meal. Choose ingredients with compatible cooking temperatures and move food as needed because both areas are heated by the same burner.

Can I use it on a backpacking stove?

No. At 26.9 oz (761.5 g) and nearly 12 inches wide, the pan is too large for most compact canister-top backpacking stoves. Use a wide, stable remote-canister or basecamp stove instead.

Which Fire Maple stoves work best?

Saturn and Saturn X are the preferred pairings because their wide supports provide a more suitable platform for the pan.

Other large basecamp stoves may work when the pan sits level and all support points make secure contact. Do not use the pan if it rocks, tilts, or rests on only part of the stove support.

Is the surface non-stick?

Yes. It uses a dual-layer nonstick coating.
Use low-to-medium heat, add a small amount of oil when needed, and avoid prolonged empty heating.

Can I use it over an open campfire?

Direct open-fire use is not recommended. Uncontrolled flames and concentrated hot spots can overheat the nonstick coating or distort the aluminum pan. Use it over a controlled gas burner.

Is it dishwasher safe?

No. Let the pan cool, wipe away grease, and hand wash it with warm soapy water and a soft sponge. Avoid abrasive pads, metal brushes, and harsh detergents.
