Do I need a camping cot to use this tent?

No.

The Tropics 1 can be pitched directly on the ground like a traditional backpacking tent or attached to a compatible camping cot for an elevated sleeping setup.

Which camping cots will it fit?

It is designed around the Fire Maple Tropics Cot and other oversized camping cots with a sleeping area close to 84.6 × 31.5 in (215 × 80 cm).

Smaller cots may still work, but the floor edges can overhang slightly.

How does the tent attach to a cot?

The tent corners use elastic sleeves and adjustable buckle straps. Slide the sleeves over the cot corners and tighten the straps underneath to secure the tent.

Can I set up the rainfly first?

Yes.

The fly-first design allows you to pitch the rainfly first, creating a dry shelter before attaching the inner tent underneath. This is especially useful during rain.

Will I fit if I'm over 6 ft (183 cm)?

Most likely, yes.

The inner tent is 84.6 in (215 cm) long and uses a roof cross-pole that creates additional headroom, making it comfortable for taller campers.

Is this an ultralight tent?

No.
