Is it good for hiking?

No. The Maverick is too heavy for most hiking or backpacking trips. Choose it for car camping, canoe trips, bushcraft camps, or basecamp cooking where durability matters more than pack weight.

What is the difference between the Square and Triangle versions?

Choose the Square version if you want a wider, more stable cooking and grilling platform.
Choose the Triangle version if you want a lighter, more compact wood stove that is easier to carry and store.

-Square Version: 2.6 lb (1170g), wider grill surface, better for car camping and larger meals.
-Triangle Version: 1.3 lb (617g), lighter carry, better for smaller camps and compact setups.

Can I cook food directly on it?

Yes. The Square version includes a grill grate for direct-fire grilling. The Triangle version is better suited as a wood-burning stand for kettles, small pots, and cookware.

What fuel can I use?

You can use dry twigs, small branches, split wood pieces, pinecones, or charcoal. Avoid wet wood, treated lumber, painted wood, or plastic-based materials.

Is it safe to use on the ground?

Use caution. It is an open-fire stove with ventilation slots near the bottom, so embers can fall through. Clear dry leaves and grass first, and place it on rock, sand, bare soil, or another fire-safe surface.

Can I use it during fire bans?

No. If local rules prohibit open flames or wood fires, do not use this stove. Always follow local campground, park, and wildfire regulations.
