Can I cook food on this fire pit?

Are the rocks included and what do they do?

Yes, the kit includes a bag of natural lava rocks. Instead of a harsh, focused blue jet flame (like a cooking stove), the stones disperse the gas to create a natural-looking wood fire effect while retaining and radiating heat.

Can I touch the rocks after turning it off?

NO! The volcanic stones retain extreme heat for a long time, just like real wood coals. You must allow at least 15-20 minutes for the stones and metal mesh to completely cool down before attempting to pack them into the storage bag.

If you heat wet stones, the trapped water will rapidly turn into high-pressure steam, causing the rocks to violently crack, pop, or explode, shooting hot debris. If your rocks get rained on or washed, let them air-dry entirely in the sun for a few days before your next use.
