Crystal Gas Lantern

Does it include the shiny silver base shown in the first picture?

No. The main product image shows the lantern mounted on our decorative "Dome Gas Cartridge Cover," which is sold separately. The lantern itself does not have a base; it screws directly onto the top of any standard camping gas canister.

Is it bright enough to read by?

No. It is purely an Ambiance Light (approx. 4-10 lumens). It provides a warm, romantic glow similar to a candle. It is not designed to illuminate a dark trail or serve as a reading light.

Does the glass get hot?

Yes, extremely hot. The crystal glass sits directly over the flame. Never touch the glass globe or the upper metal components while lit or immediately after use. Always handle the lantern by the lower control valve.
