Q1: Is this safe for use over an open fire?
A: Yes, but since it is made of metal and plastic handle. You should use it on a smaller fire or coals to be safe.
Q2: What is the diameter and height of the pot?
A: 168*111 mm/6.6*4.4inches
Q3: Does the handle lock in the up position? So it holds the lid in place?
A: Yes, there is a raised button of handle for your open or close the handle, when you open the handle, it is very steady for hold.
And then you press the raised button of the handle, it is closed and held on the lid to save place for you, it is also steady.
Q4: Does a 230g isobutane canister fit in it?
A: Probably. It definitely will fit inside based on width/diameter, because the pot is about 6 1/4” wide and the canisters are less than that. I don’t know how tall the 250g canisters are. With the lid on the pot, there is about 3 1/4” of room under the lid, so if the canister is less than 3 1/4” tall, it will fit just fine. The pot comes with a mesh stuff sack, so even if the canister is a little bit too tall, everything will fit into the stuff sack anyway.
P.S. I like that it’s wide and stable.
