Is this made of real copper? Why does the color change?

Yes, the main body is crafted from high-quality pure copper.

The "Patina" Process: Unlike painted or anodized aluminum, raw copper is a "living material." Over time, it will react with heat, oxygen, and oils from your hands to develop a unique, darker vintage patina.

Can I restore the shiny copper look?

Absolutely. If you prefer the brand-new shiny look, you can easily polish it with a standard copper cleaner or a simple mixture of lemon juice and salt. However, most campers love the rugged, aged look that develops naturally.

How bright is it?

It creates a warm, golden atmosphere (approx. 4-10 lumens depending on flame height). It is designed for mood lighting, romantic dinners, or relaxing in your tent. It is not intended to be a high-powered floodlight for cooking or hiking in pitch darkness.

Does the copper body get hot?

Yes, very hot. Copper is an excellent heat conductor. After the lantern has been lit for a few minutes, do not touch the metal body or the glass.

Safety Tip: Always use the gas control knob (which stays cool) to turn it off, and let the lantern cool down completely (about 5-10 minutes) before packing it into the storage case.

How do I light it without an igniter?

The design remains true to the classic "Orange" series. There is a small lighting hole at the base of the glass globe. Simply turn the gas on slightly (listen for a hiss) and hold a flame near the hole. It will catch instantly.

This little lantern is awesome. I’ve bought two of them so far. As well as a bunch of camping stoves from these guys. All super nice quality products with a great price point. Waaay cheaper than the competitors and great quality. Can’t wait to try their firefly lantern. Keep killing it guys I’ll be cooking on your stoves for a long time.

Beautiful but defective glass

I was so excited to receive this lantern. When it came in the mail and I opened it, it was just as beautiful as the photos. However, the ripple glass part has a clump of organic paint splattered on one spot and two rings around the upper part of the glass that appear to maybe be glue rings or some sort of material left on the glass. Unfortunately I can’t get either of these things off of the glass and it’s extremely noticeable. I feel for the money, there is a lack of quality control when sending items out. I wish I would have gotten one in perfect condition instead of one that’s defective and ugly. If they can send me a replacement one that is not defective, I’d be more than happy with that. The lantern works great.

A great purchase!

I get up pretty early in the morning. Many mornings I sit at a table on my front porch and enjoy the peace and quiet before the day begins. I have a number of small decorative oil lamps that use paraffin based oil - these are great for a little ambiance indoors. But they don't shed much light, aren't adjustable at all, and don't do well with a breeze. This little lantern excels at all the above. With the leather cover, it looks great even when it's not lit. It's adjustable from a small flame to a medium flame (plenty of light to read by) to a large flame that extends above the glass. The other evening, a friend and I sat on the porch and talked for several hours with this as our only light source. It was perfect. I love the vintage look and the heavier duty protective case of this new model. It's maybe a little heavy and large for backpacking, and may not shed enough light for cooking or playing cards. But for my purposes, this is ideal.
